We are experienced and qualified to work with architects & builders and have demonstrated in the past the ability to deliver the best product available on the market.

Some of our many completed projects  are listed below:

Cycle SA Superdome

The customer’s brief was to manufacture a dividing curtain that would separate the cycle track from the centre playing area for ball sports. Problems had arisen when the two sports came together at the wrong times. The system needed to be operated by one person with the minimum of fuss and time. With close association with the manager of the Aerodrome and the engineer, Quin’s were able to draw on their past experience to design and construct a system. We were able to design and construct a good looking and unobtrusive system that was easy and safe to operate at all time.

Specifications

Curtain is made from white netting including aluminium framework and is 20 metres high and 160 metres long in four sections. The whole curtain is raised with one push of the control button located in the control room above the track. The curtain stops at the top of the gantry 20m above the track. Lowering the whole curtain at once is achieved by one push of the button and the curtain automatically stops at the floor level here the net is clipped into the ground with plates in the floor.

Quin’s are proud to have completed such a large curtain around the existing building that poised some interesting problems. Firstly the jobs were 20 metres high off the floor which meant that care and nerves of steel were a prerequisite. Secondly the oval shape of the structure meant careful calculations on the job to ensure the correct taper of the curtain and smooth lines of the finished job.

Only the highest quality equipment is used on such a large job to ensure years of trouble free use. All equipment used has high uv treatments and the fixtures and fittings are highly rated.

Feed back from the centre is positive with the hockey players able to play hard without the worry of lobbing balls up into the cycle arena and the management have resolved the safety concerns of placing temporary nets up and down in between different sessions.

Safety Nets Save Lives

The customers brief was to manufacture a safety net that could catch staff falling off a heavily stacked truck. The net also needed to be attached and removed many times a day. The system needed to be simple to use and full proof but also had to stay within the safety specifications set down in the relevant standards.

Quin’s staff came up with the system of quick release clips that can attach to the truck when in use but swing out of harms way when there is no trucks working in the area. It takes just five minutes to attach the safety net each time the 40m long double truck pulls up to the loading bay. The system was cheap and will give years of trouble free use.

Follow up reports are good with the improved safety of staff and the company is seen to be making safety the first priority.

Rubbish Under Control

The customers brief was to come up with a litter control system that could hold three trucks unloading rubbish at a time. The whole system was required to be moved every week to a new location so that the rubbish can be layered. No rubbish was to blow free from the site.

To achieve this we needed to make sixteen 20m high masts to hold the netting.
Such masts were to be attached to a steel platform, each platform included four 1 metre long wheels, 64 in total

The completed job has an area of over 40m wide, 80m long and 20m high (including a roof). The cages were made in two sections, each cage 40m long with gates 25m x 16m at the front and back.

The Quins team overcame many problems in the designing stages, one of the biggest concerns was how the wall of netting 80m x 20m would react to high wind loads considering it was not anchored to the ground but was on wheels.

The nets also had to be lifted when the cage was moved every week or it would drag on the ground and wear out.

The nets needed to be simply adjusted whilst up in place even in strong winds. The rigging had to be made to last in extreme heat and cold and needed to stand up to the loads of 365 days use a year, every year.

The reports after several months use are excellent with the portable system holding up in all weather. We have since implemented a maintenance program to maintain the system in good conditions to ensure no down time on the site.

Cage Design Leads the World

The customer required new cages to be made for its growing Tuna Farm business in Ensinada, Mexico.

Due to time restraints it was decided to make the cage nets on site and therefore give the customer an extra few weeks to prepare for the coming fishing season.

Quin’s Nets organized the shipment of 18 ton of material to be exported to the site ready for the final assembly of nine, 127mtr circumference x 12mtr deep nets.

The Quin’s staff stayed on site for fourteen weeks constructing the nets with the help of twelve Mexican workers. All up 12,000 hours were spent in constructing the nets on budget and on time.

Quin’s worked closely with the customer to create a new design that would last longer in the harsh marine environment, but would require few hours maintenance each year. As a result the customer agrees that these nets were the strongest net he has ever used which is important when each cage contains $1.5 million dollars worth of tuna and there is up to 15 cages.

It is of great pride that we boast that we have never lost even one tuna out of our cage system in the 10 years we have been manufacturing the tuna farm nets.
